What You Can Expect

If you and your doctors have decided that Calypso localization and External Beam radiation is the method you would like to pursue, this is what you can expect.

  • You will be referred back to your urologist for insertion of the three beacons. They will notify you of an appointment time.
  • You will then wait at least 7 to 10 days for any swelling in the prostate or prostate bed to resolve.
  • We will then schedule a simulation: This is a CAT scan done at the Austintown location. We will notify you by phone of the actual date and time. We need your bladder full for this procedure. We ask you to drink enough water to have the urge to urinate. We do not want your bladder so full that you are uncomfortable.
  • This is followed by a wait of 5-7 working days while a personalized treatment plan is developed.
  • You will receive a phone call to start treatment sessions.
